Dr. Maria S. Sepulveda is an Assistant Professor in the department of Forestry and Natural Resources and Civil Engineering with the environmental group. Her research interests include ecotoxicology, with special emphasis on evaluating the sublethal effects of contaminants and other environmental stressors on the reproductive physiology of fish and wildlife; development and application of molecular biomarkers of exposure and effects to environmental contaminants; bioaccumulation rates and factors affecting bioavailability of contaminants in biota; and impact of diseases on wildlife population, with special interest on parasite diseases. She graduated from the University of Chile with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Sepulveda later obtained her masters in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, and her Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida. After her Ph.D. in 2000 she became an Assistant Instructor and then in 2002 became an Assistant Scientist for the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida.
