Student Resources

The College of Engineering is committed to doing all it can to support students during these extraordinary circumstances. The number of communications students are receiving can be daunting, with details continuing to change.

To bring what Engineering students need to know to one place, we have collected resources that should be helpful, relevant, and updated regularly. You may reference them based on your questions and needs. However, please note that reading your email often is still an important step to staying informed.

With the situation evolving, questions and needs might shift; if there is a resource you are not seeing and/or you feel would be beneficial to include, please let us know and we will update as appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

You likely have questions and concerns, and you're likely not alone. You might also have ideas or tips that could be valuable to broadly share with everyone. Please send us an email, let us know your thoughts, and we’ll make appropriate updates and additions.

While we have done our best to gather and answer questions important to Purdue Engineering students, continue to check the Purdue COVID-19 website for the latest news, developments, and FAQs on University-wide policies and actions.

Affordability

COVID-19 has ushered in a significant amount of change in a very short time. What has not changed is Purdue Engineering’s commitment to our students. While COVID-19 is a current health crisis, it also impacts the financial well-being of our students and their families. You or your family might be concerned about how the current financial interruption may impact your ability to afford a Purdue Engineering degree.

The College of Engineering understands your concerns, and we want to assist you and your family by providing helpful information and resources. The College has a Scholarships and Affordability page collecting helpful knowledge for you and your family, and we’ve gathered some common questions, below.

The Division of Financial Aid’s COVID-19 webpage will have the most up-to-date details and considerations on how financial aid processes are and will be affected.

“You may have read that the U.S. Congress, in its coronavirus relief legislation, provided funds to help students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. To make this “CARES Act” funding available to Purdue students, we have established a CARES Act Emergency Funding application, which can be accessed through the Division of Financial Aid.

Purdue recognizes, as Congress did, that you may have incurred unexpected expenses as a result of COVID-19’s disruption of our campus operations. The application provides an opportunity for you to recover related expenses for such items as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. Please see the application for additional details. We will make every effort to assist you in getting reimbursed for those expenses if they are allowable under guidance from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid and if sufficient funds are available.

To be eligible, you must have a FAFSA on file with the Division of Financial Aid or be eligible to file a FAFSA. Only students who are or could be eligible to participate in the federal student aid programs may receive emergency financial aid grants. If you have not filed a FAFSA, more detailed eligibility information is outlined at the beginning of the application. To read more about eligibility and to complete the funding application, please visit purdue.scholarshipuniverse.com. Once you log in to ScholarshipUniverse with your Purdue Career Account credentials, you can search for the CARES Act Emergency Funding application in the search bar at the top of the site.

The Division of Financial Aid at Purdue is facilitating this process, and you may contact facontact@purdue.edu or 765-494-5050 with any questions you may have.”

- Jay Akridge, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Diversity

You can also contact the Division of Financial Aid to inquire if your situation is applicable for the Special Circumstance Process.
