Mothers, daughters invited to learn about engineering

Purdue University's Women in Engineering Program and the YWCA Greater Lafayette will host a free mother-daughter engineering program Aug. 2.

The program for fourth- through sixth-grade girls and their mothers will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the YWCA at 605 N. Sixth St.

During the event, students will participate in hands-on engineering and science projects, learn leadership and academic skills and experience how engineers make a difference in the world, all under the guidance of Purdue women engineering students.

Mothers and daughters will work on a project together. Students also will work on projects with each other while mothers learn about encouraging their daughters' interest in science and engineering.

A free reception for dads and siblings will begin at noon.

To register, call the YWCA at 765-742-0075.
