WIEP receives two national awards

The Purdue Women in Engineering Program was presented with WEPAN's Women in Engineering Program Award recently in Atlanta, Ga. Beth Holloway, director of WIEP and Student Success, and Jennifer Groh, associate WIEP director, accepted the award.

WEPAN, the Women in Engineering ProActive Network, is the nation's leading organization promoting the inclusion and success of women in engineering education. The organization recognizes one program each year as an outstanding Women in Engineering program that serves as a model for other institutions.

Cathy Deno, an administrative assistant with WIEP, also received WEPAN's President's Award for making significant contributions to WEPAN goals and objectives. Deno has worked for WIEP since 1989, contributing to logistics, planning and overseeing national conferences. She also has helped organize conference proceedings, regional training seminars, board meetings, membership services, and the WEPAN website. WEPAN noted "Cathy’s competence and personality created a supportive 'home' for WEPAN members long before the organization was able to hire an Executive Director." So
