Kaushik Roy
Kaushik Roy, the Edward G. Tiedemann Jr. Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is one of 10 scientists and engineers recently named as U.S. Department of Defense class of National Security Science and Engineering Faculty Fellows (NSSEFF).

The announcement was made by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering.

Each of the 10 receives up to $3 million over five years to enable "transformative research" in core science and engineering disciplines that underpin future DOD technology development. Roy's grant will support his work in neuromorphic computing.

"NSSEFF grants are highly competitive, attracting the next generation of outstanding scientists and engineers to some of our most challenging scientific issues and opportunities," said Robin Staffin, director for basic research. "The program provides grants to top-tier researchers from U.S. universities to conduct long-term, unclassified, basic research of strategic importance to the Department of Defense."
