Jamieson to receive honorary doctorate and speak at Drexel commencement
In a letter to Jamieson on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Drexel University President John A. Fry said that the university "chooses recipients who embody the characteristics and values we seek to instill in our students."
Fry cited Jamieson's work on parallel processing algorithms and her dedication to engineering education, which has been recognized with awards from the National Science Foundation, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Carnegie Foundation and others. He also pointed out her role in creating and disseminating Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS), which was recognized with the 2005 Bernard M. Gordon Prize from the National Academy of Engineering.
He added: "You have truly been a singular force in promoting the confluence of engineering education and community service."
Jamieson will be conferred the degree of Doctor of Engineering, honoris causa, and will give an address at the ceremony.
