Irazoqui named Showalter Faculty Scholar
Pedro Irazoqui, associate professor of biomedical engineering and electrical and computer engineering, has been selected by the Office of the Provost and the Showalter Board as one of three inaugural Showalter Faculty Scholars.
The scholars initiative was established at Purdue earlier this year by the Showalter Trust Selection Committee to create technology transfer that will promote Indiana business through new inventions and accelerate the pace of successful young investigators in their paths to fully funded, full-time research careers. It also is intended to generate resources for the institutions through additional grant funding and the creation of valuable intellectual property.
The program provides support for three faculty Scholars this year and will increase to reach a steady state of 15 Showalter Scholars. Scholars are provided $5,000 per year for five years from the Showalter Trust, an amount that is matched equally by Purdue University.
