Nicholas Delgass, the Maxine Spencer Nichols Emeritus Professor of Chemical Engineering, has been elected a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Dr. Delgass will be recognized during the spring AIChE meeting in San Antonio, Texas, to be held April 28 - May 2, 2013. Election to fellow in AIChE is based on contributions made to the engineering profession and significant accomplishments in engineering.

Professor Delgass joined the School of Chemical Engineering in 1974 and retired in May 2012, but continues his research activities. His area of interest is heterogeneous catalysis, with the goal to understand the surface chemical origins of catalytic activity and to use that fundamental knowledge in a process called Discovery Informatics for the design of catalysts.
