Princeton University EPICS program, winning awards while helping communities

Students at Princeton University are being recognized for improving communities.

A Princeton University EPICS team has designed and built a portable renewable energy generator that can be assembled using manpower in an hour or less.  “Power in a Box” is a wind turbine and solar panels packed inside a shipping container , and is meant to be used in remote or disaster- stricken locations in place of diesel generators. The project won a $90,000 EPA grant in 2012 and the monies are being used to test and improve the generator.
