Rahaul graduated from bachelor’s in civil engineering in 2013 and joined a building construction company as an assistant project engineer. He has over 2 years of work experience in building industry. He worked on-site, in the estimation department, and in the project controls department. He participated in the pre-construction planning of the company’s largest project. There he assisted in project execution planning, defining the scope, constructability, WBS, and scheduling of the project. To explore and learn more about project control management system he came to Purdue University in 2015. At Purdue, he has been working as a research assistant and exploring various concepts and practices of project control management system (PCMS). During his research, he found that construction projects are not doing well. The traditional project control system is not adequate to provide the control which is needed to control big construction projects. Under the guidance of Dr. Makarand Hastak and Dr. Robert Patty, he has been exploring current and best PCMS practices, finding gaps between “what is” and “what work processes should be” used and researching on advancements to fill in these gaps. During summer 2016, he has assisted in the assessment of work process, procedures, and policies of Tripatra, the largest EPC in Indonesia. He has worked on site and, under the guidance of industry’s consultant, aided in performing work process gap analysis; researched and recommended industry’s best practices to fill in the gaps on site in Indonesia.
