2. Review of College of Engineering Safety Committee Meeting Minutes
-
Meeting held on Friday, February 13th at 8:30am
-
Lt. Guerra of PUFD presented AED training
-
AED purchases at Purdue are currently left to the departments
-
WANG has 4 AEDs (one on each floor), ARMS has none. There is discussion of purchasing AEDs for ARMS at the cost of about $1800 per unit.
-
AEDs can be used by those who are trained or untrained. The system is automated and provides voice instructions. It is important to phone 911 when deploying an AED.
-
Jim Schweitzer of REM presented differences between the Chemical Hygiene Plan and the Hazard Communication Standard.
-
ENE is bound by the Hazard Communication Standard as no chemical manipulations take place in any of the facilities.
-
In future ISP audits, all ENE spaces should be classified as offices, classrooms, or shops. It is important to not classify as a “lab”, as this requires the space to comply with OSHA lab protocol. However, all spaces can still be referred to as “labs.”
-
The College of Engineering lessons learned page now requires a Purdue login, but still reports anonymously. This system was changed due to a recent spam event.
3. Review of Open Safety Items List
4. Review of Open Near Miss Items

-
Item #38: Opened. Tracking future installation of AEDs in ARMS.
-
