The integration of engineering is rarely taught to pre-service and in-service teachers. In order to provide sound teacher professional development, a cohesive and domain-specific model is necessary to understand (1) teachers’ progression towards engineering teaching expertise and (2) their stage of adoption. This study developed a model of elementary engineering education (EEE) adoption and expertise development among teachers. The process of model development, the model and implications are discussed.
