The Butler Center also administers the Leadership in Action Awards, honoring a faculty member, staff member and student, each of whom must show leadership with direct effect on their work and community environments. To be eligible for these awards, individuals must demonstrate ongoing commitment to engagement at the local, state, national and/or global level; active service to the campus community; and national service to academic and/or professional organizations.

Research Project Grant for Assistant and Associate Professors

The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence has selected a recipient for the 2021-22 Research Project Grant for Assistant and Associate Professors.

Bhagyashree Katare, associate professor from the Department of Agricultural Economics, College of Agriculture, has received the grant for her project, “Social Networks in Academia: Determinants of Selective Membership into Leadership Roles and Editorial Boards.”

The research project grant for assistant professors and associate professors is made possible through funds from Ketan and Tanuja Sheth Family Endowment and the Meghana and Vinayak Ranade Family Endowment established in spring 2019. The grant recognizes an assistant or associate professor whose proposed project focuses on any aspect of the academy and lives of faculty, staff and students. Aimed at furthering the mission of the Butler Center, this award supports the work of an individual (or individuals) interested in advancing inclusion and faculty success broadly.
