Purdue's Teaching Academy announces 11 inductees

The Purdue University Teaching Academy will induct 11 new members in recognition of their outstanding and scholarly teaching in graduate, undergraduate or engagement programs.

Candidates were identified by their individual department or college/school based upon evidence of excellence in teaching, innovation in teaching methodology, teaching-related service, and scholarship in teaching and learning. 

In addition to the five Murphy Award recipients, who are automatically inducted into the Teaching Academy, four new fellows from the faculty and two associate members from graduate teaching assistants, instructors or other teaching staff were selected from the pool of nominees.

The newly selected Teaching Academy fellows are:
* Monica Cardella -- Engineering Education.
* Pamela Karagory -- Nursing.
* Christopher Lukasik -- English.
* Vicki Simpson -- Nursing.

The new Teaching Academy associates are:
* Lindsey Payne -- Environmental and Ecological Engineering/Ecological Sciences and Engineering Graduate Program.
* Kyle Vealey -- English.

The 2014 Murphy Award recipients as previously announced, who will be inducted as Teaching Academy fellows, are:
* David Eichinger -- Curriculum Instruction.
* Kathleen C. Howell -- Aeronautics and Astronautics.
* Cynthia Bozich Keith -- School of Nursing.
* Suzanne Nielsen -- Food Science.
* Jason Weiss -- Civil Engineering.

The Teaching Academy Induction Ceremony will be held Sept. 24 in the Purdue Memorial Union North Ballroom with a reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by the ceremony at 7 p.m. All members of the Purdue community are welcome to attend. 

The Teaching Academy's mission is to enhance and strengthen the quality of teaching and learning at the University.
