EEE Research team collaborates with universities in China

Environmental and Ecological Engineering graduate student Matt Triebe is part of a team of researchers collaborating with three universities in China to study the design and operation of manufacturing equipment for increased resource and energy efficiency.

Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the research team, which includes Triebe (pictured left), Professor John Sutherland, and Professor Fu Zhao, is collaborating with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Hefei University of Technology, and Harbin Institute of Technology.

In June 2016, Triebe spent time at Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Hefei University of Technology, where he met with professors and students to discuss current research and to develop future opportunities for collaboration. “This trip was very useful,” Triebe said. “I was able to build relationships with the researchers that I will be working with throughout this current project while learning more about the students and their areas of research.” Triebe also provided assistance on current student’s research papers. In addition to the work he conducted at the two schools, Triebe learned more about Chinese culture.
