Dr. Son,

Could you push this information out through Purdue’s channels? Essentially, the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering here at West Point is looking to expand their Center for Innovation and Engineering (CIE) faculty. If anyone is interested, I could put them in touch with one of the civilian CIE faculty who recently joined the department for specific questions.

Hope all is well. I’ve only been teaching for two-ish months and am an advisor to only two capstone (senior) projects, but I certainly have a new appreciation for all of the work that goes on behind the scenes as an instructor/professor and advisor. It’s been a very steep learning curve. I wanted to take a moment to thank you again for the insight, lessons, and effort you put into my time at Purdue and as a part of your research group; it’s something I took for granted as a student.

Subject: help recruiting new faculty

Gents,

It’s that time of year again…we are recruiting new civilian faculty to join the CIE in the coming year.  We would like to bring at least one person (maybe more) on in January, and at least one more over the summer.  If we cannot get anyone in JAN, then we will try to bring multiple people in over the summer.

Since you have all been in grad school recently-ish, can you send the attached flier to your old advisor / lab / lab-mates for recruitment and advertising purposes?

I will say that we are most interested in mechanical engineers who can teach or research either armaments/weapons engineering, fluid dynamics, or high performance computers on the mechanical engineering side, but any US Citizen is encouraged to apply.

Sir, can you forward to our cohort who is currently in graduate school for them to disseminate as well.
