FACULTY POSITIONS IN TRANSPORTATION AND WATER RESOURCES ENGINEERING
DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING AND APPLIED MECHANICS
The Department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics at McGill University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in the areas of Transportation and Water Resources Engineering, preferably at the Assistant Professor level, but outstanding senior candidates are also encouraged to apply. Rank will be determined by the qualifications of the successful applicant and salary will be commensurate with rank and experience. Successful candidates will play leading roles in maintaining McGill's international reputation of excellence in research, teaching and service.
We are particularly interested in the following areas of expertise:
* Transportation Engineering: Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to: transportation system design; traffic engineering; transportation safety; automated data collection and monitoring tools; transportation sensor and instrumentation technology; and transportation planning in integration with cross-disciplinary issues such as energy, climate change, health, and other sustainability/livability issues.
* Water Resources Engineering: Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to: groundwater hydraulics/hydrology; hydraulic/hydrologic modeling of surface and subsurface waters; environmental hydraulics/fluid mechanics; river mechanics; and hydrotechnical engineering.
The Department has strong research activities in applied and computational mechanics, infrastructure engineering, structural engineering, materials, environmental engineering, geo-environmental and geotechnical engineering, fluid mechanics and water resources engineering and transportation engineering. Excellent candidates in these areas will also be considered.
The Department is committed to excellence in teaching in its undergraduate and graduate programs in Civil Engineering and values service contributions of its Faculty members to the University, the profession and society at large.
Candidates must have a Ph.D., preferably with a first degree in Civil Engineering. Evidence of outstanding research achievements, or research potential, is indispensable. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to the mission of the University, through outstanding activities in the areas of research, teaching and service. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association is required.
