All EPICS General Communication, I hope your first week was a good start and your adjusting well to the transition from Summer to Fall.  Please remember to reach out to your team leaders, TA, advisors, and the EPICS staff as needed.  This Announcements channel is a key conduit for our staff to keep you inform; please check it often and turn notifications on.



EPICS Important Tools

  *   Brightspace: All EPICS teams have a Brightspace site, which includes the syllabus, core academic information, and grades.   *   Microsoft Teams: All EPICS teams have a Microsoft Teams instance to collaborate, share files, and conduct video conferencing.  Keep notifications on to see when the team is trying to reach you.
  *   Website: The EPICS website has a lot of complementary information, such as, teams descriptions and schedule, lab resources, weekly assignments (milestones), and more.  Explore https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS/purdue.

To do on Week 1 (Aug 25-29)

  *   EPICS Safety Awareness Quiz - Find the safety quiz in the Pre-semester section in Brightspace (visit Content in the top menu).
  *   Intro to EPICS (PDH 1) – Required for all First-Time EPICS Students - all students in their first semester of EPICS are required to complete five introductory Professional Development Hours (PDHs) by the end of week 6.  All of them can be found on your course Brightspace site.  Make sure to take the quiz to verify completion.
  *   Get familiar with your chosen project - once you know the particular project you will work on, if the project is a continuation from last semester, please find in Teams the transitional document and/or design document and read it to get acquainted with it.  If the project is new, you may want to find additional information about your project partner to understand the vision, needs, and opportunities the project may address.

Going into Week 2 (Sep 1-5)

  *   New students: complete PDH 2
  *   Returning students (and 2-credit students): complete your PDH plan (Qualtrics survey)
  *   Project Managers (PM) and Design Leads (DL): share team semester goals with project partner and advisor for feedback
