Dear EMBRIO Members,

Concluding our spring semester research updates across all thrust projects, our upcoming research seminar on Monday the 20th will feature Qing Deng presenting on Thrust 3B: Determine how tissue-wide organization of connected epithelial sheets emerges from large-scale multicellular coordination through the study of wound sealing in zebrafish.

Plan to attend the hands-on session June 10th on the new CalciumInsights tool presented by Deiver Suarez Gomez scheduled for June 10th. The CalciumInsights tool involved contributions from at least seven EMBRIO labs. See description and link for software download and example data:

The organizing committee for the 2024 EMBRIO Summer School, “Communicating your research with novice audiences through web-based digital media.” is being led by Stephanie Gardner and Alejandra Magana. The 2.5 day School offers a unique hands-on training generating an instructional product for each participant's (or team's) desired topic. This is an excellent opportunity to author a pedagogically sound instructional product based on your ideas.

Summer School Learning Objectives:

  *
Apply learning design principles for planning and developing an instructional artifact related to integrative science, research, and collaboration.
  *
Integrate learning strategies for the implementation and/or demonstration of the instructional unit utilizing web-based digital media.
  *
Share and communicate your designs and provide peer feedback.

EMBRIO Student Leadership Council Calling All EMBRIO Members
Calling everyone’s attention to a Skills and Strengths Sharing platform for the Institute launched by the Student Leadership Council to boost collaboration since collaboration is at the heart of EMBRIO. We have created a platform (google slide deck<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fpresentation%2Fd%2F1ISHO5p5QXI67UlXJyulCzOtxPeZOiPAUYvpGJqJz4YE%2Fedit%23slide%3Did.p&data=05%7C02%7Cembrio-list%40ecn.purdue.edu%7Ce8e6dfe9dbb040a55ad808dc7683bfca%7C4130bd397c53419cb1e58758d6d63f21%7C0%7C0%7C638515555437319146%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=F3tfcjACZQGcNvxOMHoowxjuuWGclmy3LcnRJhSLe3g%3D&reserved=0>) where we can all share a little about who we are and what kinds of strengths we can and are willing to share with others. We kindly request that all members (student, faculty, and staff) take a few minutes to fill out a slide for themselves. This way, we can also use this to gauge what topics would be of most value to EMBRIO for hosting workshops.
