[Che-student-staff-list] Announcement - Marilyn Forney's Passing

The School of Chemical Engineering is saddened to report the passing of our dear friend, Marilyn Forney (BSChE '47) of December 29th. Marilyn and her late husband, Bob Forney (BSChE ' 47, PhD ChE '50 HDR '81), were ardent supporters of the School helping and provided a $10M lead gift to build the addition to our building which is now named in their honor.  Additionally, each year the School recognizes one graduate student and one undergraduate student whose impact has helped pave the way for women in the field of engineering through the Marilyn Forney Trailblazer Award.

Few people have made as great an impact on the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering as Marilyn and Bob Forney.  Without hesitation, I can tell you their generosity was the catalyst that inspired so many others to give back to the School. Purdue Chemical Engineering is forever indebted to them for their friendship, generosity, and their leadership.

All who knew Marilyn knows she would want us to continue on with our work to the absolute best of our abilities.  Additional gifts from Mr. and Mrs. Forney will be forthcoming and provide additional opportunities for advancement.  The Forney legacy is one that will always be an integral part of our School's history.  As we acknowledge Marilyn's passing, may we also reflect with admiration on the tremendous impact she and Bob have had on our program.  Each of us has been impacted by their generosity.
