The 2021 Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Biomolecular Galaxy Symposium is right around the corner, taking place virtually on May 12th-13th, with pre-symposium events being held on May 11th.
This event features 25 talks from a variety of fields, such as Bioinformatics, Biophysics, Enzymology, Methods Development, Molecular Analogs, and Pathogens. Registration<https://purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_82qTXodD3TvWfOd> (which is free to all) is currently open to attend the symposium, where the schedule of talks and events can be found on our website<https://hitchhikers.science.purdue.edu/2021/schedule/index.html>.
Day 1 of the symposium will feature keynote speaker, Dr. Douglas Lauffenburger from MIT, giving his talk: Hijacked by Covid: Antibody-Centric Immune Systems Analysis, Intensely Applied. Additionally, the end of Day 1 will feature a networking session, sponsored by the Biophysical Society (BPS). Day 2 will feature our lightning talks session, consisting of 20 short talks given in different Zoom rooms over the course of an hour.
Additionally, we are excited to give more information about this year's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Biomolecular Galaxy Pre-symposium Events<https://hitchhikers.science.purdue.edu/2021/career_session/index.html>! Be sure to log in to the conference Zoom link on May 11, 2021, at 3:00 PM and listen to four professors discussing "Striving for an inclusive community in science" moderated by Ms. Natasha Harris. Please submit anonymous discussion points/questions you would like them to answer via the following qualtrics link<https://purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9vOyeDqbWq8dz2C> which is also provided on our website<https://hitchhikers.science.purdue.edu/2021/index.html>. At 8:00 PM, we will have a career development session where we will be discussing "What's next? Exploring future careers in science" with an industry professional, science writer, and health policy analyst from NIH. This career session will be an informal, question-and-answer discussion so come prepared with any questions you may have!
