Dear All,
I wanted to clarify that the travel policy is in regards to any travel outside the Greater Lafayette area as mentioned by the University HERE<https://protect.purdue.edu/updates/thanksgiving-departure-testing-guidance-for-students-and-employees/>. I also made some slight corrections highlighted below to clear up any potential confusion.
Of course, every case is a little unique but overall if you are traveling outside the Greater Lafayette area and have any close contact with anyone outside your immediate home pod you need to abide by this policy when returning to Forney. To further clarify, the CDC defines "close contact" as "anyone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a total of 15 minutes or more" regardless of whether or not you were wearing a mask; you may find further information to your questions by visiting the CDC Coronavirus FAQ found HERE<https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html>.
Sincerely,
Joshua

Subject: ChE Travel Policy - COVID-19 Protocol for Thanksgiving Break
Importance: High
Dear All,
As the Thanksgiving break approaches and the state of the pandemic grows ever dire, the School would like to emphasize that all those who travel outside the local area do so following all applicable Covid-19 guidelines. As you all likely read via the Purdue Today related post regarding Thanksgiving travel<https://protect.purdue.edu/updates/thanksgiving-departure-testing-guidance-for-students-and-employees/>, our school out of an abundance of caution has once again affirmed a stricter policy than that of the University. Due to the prevalence of viral positivity and community spread of SARS-COV-2 across the U.S., all those who travel (regardless of circumstance) should either self-quarantine for 14 days immediately after return and/or be tested for COVID-19 and receive a negative COVID-19 test result before returning to Forney. This stricter policy is put in place to protect our community and help continue our success in resuming operations as normally as possible while keeping the safety of our entire community as the number one priority.
If you do plan to travel, it would be a wise decision to get tested prior, for the safety of those you may come in contact with while on break. To schedule a test, please contact the Protect Purdue Health Center at 765-496-4636 or 833-571-1043. Please keep in mind that they are prioritizing tests by those who are at risk or exhibiting symptoms so keep that in mind while you plan your test prior to your travel plans. Also remember to factor in the turnover rate for results which is typically 48-72 hours. The holiday testing schedule as well as info regarding on campus testing may be found HERE<https://protect.purdue.edu/protect-purdue-health-center/how-to-get-tested/>. Please remember to keep your supervisor apprised of your testing/quarantine status as well.
With good planning and most importantly cooperation from our ChE community, we will do our best to continue protecting one another and continue our operations come the spring semester. All of your time and cooperation is greatly appreciated especially during these unprecedented times. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Sincerely,
Joshua

Subject: ChE Domestic Travel Policy - COVID-19 Protocol
Importance: High
Dear All,
This email is to reaffirm the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering's internal policy concerning domestic travel (outside of Indiana) for all faculty, staff, graduate students, post-docs and visiting scholars. Out of an abundance of caution and for our community's safety as well as with all of our best interest in mind, our School has implemented a stricter policy than that adopted by the University, which you may find HERE<https://protect.purdue.edu/updates/travel-guidelines-for-fall-2020/>.
After approval for domestic travel outside of Indiana has been obtained by the Dean of the College of Engineering, and after such travel has been completed, School policy requires that prior to a return to physical presence on the Purdue campus all individuals should either self-quarantine for 14 days immediately after return or be tested for COVID-19 and receive a negative COVID-19 test result. (This School policy is identical to what is stated on the above Protect Purdue webpage, with the only exception being the replacement of "should consider" with "should".)
If you wish to schedule a COVID-19 test, please contact the Protect Purdue Health Center at 765-496-4636 or 833-571-1043. Scheduling is very easy and only takes a couple of minutes of answering a few questions from the operator. Thereafter if they deem it appropriate then they will schedule you for a test. Processing of the results can take between 24-48 hours, after which you will receive a pdf of your results. You will need to share this document with your supervisor for our School's records.
Sincerely,
Joshua
