[Che-student-staff-list] ChE Excellence in Safety Award winner announced

Dear Purdue ChE Community,

Please join me in congratulating Mihit Parekh, as the winner of the 2020 ChE Excellence in Safety Award. This award recognizes a safety conscientious graduate student in the School of Chemical Engineering, who contributes to the maintenance and continuous improvement of a strong safety culture within our School community.

Mihit Parekh is a graduate student in the ViPER Group led by Dr. Vilas Pol. He is a member of the ChE Safety Committee since August 2019, and was an active member of the ChESS Organizing Committee for the 2018-19 academic year. Mihit had worked in industry prior to joining Davidson School of Chemical Engineering for his PhD studies. Upon joining the ViPER Group, he applied the safe work practices, high standard of work ethics and the safety culture acquired during his employment in industry, and helped increasing the safety culture within ViPER Group and within our School community.

Unfortunately, a face-to-face recognition is not possible at this time, but we will hopefully be able to have a more formal recognition in the near future.
