[Che-student-staff-list] REMINDER: COVID-19 Policy for Upcoming Break

Dear All,

With the upcoming break, our School wanted to reminder everyone to please continue to abide by the COVID-19 guidelines while on break. Along with the University, we strongly recommend against any travel or attending any events with people outside of your immediate household. This is in accordance with the Department of State and CDC guidance at this time, as you all likely know the status of the pandemic is very bleak right now as cases soar in the US.
For these reasons, all those who travel (regardless of circumstance/location) or have any type of gatherings with people outside of your immediate household, need to self-quarantine for 14 days (monitoring for any symptoms) per COVID-19 guidelines and be tested for COVID-19. You will be required to receive a negative COVID-19 test result before returning to campus as we all took the Protect Purdue Pledge<https://maillinks.purdue.edu/t/40593947/1568766656/85501983/0/1003844/?x=1e106d68> and are expected to abide by it. Remember to keep your supervisor apprised of any needed quarantining and test result. For your convenience, you will find the Protect Purdue Health Center info in the email below along with its planned break schedule. Also please be sure to follow the guidance in the University’s COVID-19 Travel Policy<https://maillinks.purdue.edu/t/40593947/1568766656/85501984/0/1003844/?x=3ac308d2> whether it be for essential Purdue related business or personal travel.

I would like to reiterate, our School’s stricter policy is put in place to protect our community and help continue our success in resuming operations as normally as possible while keeping the safety of our entire community as the number one priority. With early stages of administering the vaccines well underway, there is a light at the end of this “tunnel” and now our focus should be not only on protecting ourselves but as well as one another in order so we can all return to a similar environment which we have been accustomed to. I hope you all stay safe as well as enjoy your break. I look forward to the day when we can resume our regular duties on campus with every day in-person interactions. All of your efforts and cooperation is greatly appreciated in this regard!

Sincerely,
Joshua

Dear Purdue faculty and staff,

As we head into the holiday season and Purdue’s winter recess, we have much to be thankful for, including a fall semester completed under extraordinary circumstances. We also continue to have a critical responsibility to protect ourselves, to protect others and to protect Purdue.

Employee cases, as a percentage of total cases, have been increasing over the last two months as cases of COVID-19 surge in Indiana and around the country. I want to remind you that all Boilermakers, including faculty and staff, are expected to continue to follow the Protect Purdue Pledge<https://maillinks.purdue.edu/t/40593947/1568766656/85501983/0/1003844/?x=1e106d68> and the University COVID-19 travel policy<https://maillinks.purdue.edu/t/40593947/1568766656/85501984/0/1003844/?x=3ac308d2> while away from campus, including masking, social distancing and monitoring daily for symptoms.

The holidays are traditionally a time for activities that run counter to the Pledge, and I join my colleagues in public health in asking you to please consider avoiding situations that raise your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19, such as gathering with people from outside your immediate household without masks or social distancing, especially if you are not feeling well. I know this is a lot to ask, and I know it isn’t easy. I also know that you, our Boilermaker faculty and staff, have an extraordinary capacity to do hard things, as evidenced over the past nine months.

Should you need us, the Protect Purdue Health Center will continue to be available 24/7 by phone throughout winter break, and COVID-19 testing is available<https://maillinks.purdue.edu/t/40593947/1568766656/84712715/0/1003844/?x=392f1e5b> on campus for faculty, staff and household family members, regardless of whether or not you are experiencing symptoms. If you have engaged in any activity that raises the risk of contracting COVID-19, please get tested.

Testing hours over the winter break period will be:

  *   Now-Dec. 22: 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday and Sunday
  *   Dec. 23-25: CLOSED
  *   Dec. 26: 8 a.m.-noon
  *   Dec. 27: 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
  *   Dec. 28: CLOSED
  *   Dec. 29-31: 8 a.m.-11 a.m. (on-call 11 a.m.-4 p.m.)
  *   Jan. 1: CLOSED
  * Jan. 2: Regular hours resume; 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday and Sunday
