[Che-student-staff-list] OSHA building inspection to start on Monday (August 15)

Hello Everyone,

A team from REM will be conducting the yearly safety building inspection on behalf of OSHA, starting Monday, August 15, 2016. The team will be inspecting every lab and office in the building and will note any OSHA violations found. For labs: please make sure all containers are labeled (even if it is water) and sealed, accumulation of waste is minimal, waste containers are labeled correctly, and there is good housekeeping throughout the labs. There should be good housekeeping in offices, too. As a reminder, extension cords should not be linked in series and should only be used as a temporary arrangement in the labs.

The safety in our School improved substantially in the last few years and I don't expect OSHA to find major violations during the building inspection. However, it is important that the basic rules regarding labeling, sealing containers, collection and storage of hazardous waste are followed and there is good housekeeping throughout the building.
