Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce that the Chemical Engineering Safety Committee
has been selected to receive the 2014 Purdue Presidential Safety Award in
recognition of the School's safety efforts. Current team members include:
Chairperson Gabriela Nagy; Professors Robert Hannemann and Fabio Ribeiro;
Graduate Students Gregory Honda, Rohit Jaini and Erik Sheets; and staff
members Jason Davenport, Jeff Valley and Yury Zvinevich.

The team was nominated based on their hard work and persistence in
implementing and enforcing safety protocols, procedures and rules within the
School, as well as for their efforts to offer safety education and advice
since the committee was established in 1979. Due in large part to the
committee's efforts, the School of Chemical Engineering became the first
Safety Indemnified school or department at Purdue. That indemnification
continues to this day.

The ChE safety committee meets monthly and conducts yearly safety inspection
of all offices and laboratories. It also provides continuous support, safety
training and safety advice to the School community.

The 2014 Purdue Presidential Safety Award was presented at the Radiological
and Environmental Management's Annual Safety Chair meeting on March 5,
2014Attached is a picture from the event. . This is the second year when
Purdue gives the Presidential Safety Award.

Please join me in congratulating all ChE Safety Committee members for this
accomplishment.
