Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to inform that Linda Davis, who has served as our School's inaugural Industrial Education Director (IED) since June 2007, is leaving her position effective June 29, 2012.  She will move to Austin, TX with her husband Bob Davis, a distinguished alumnus of our School, who is currently Director of the Purdue Enterprise Company.  Their move, however, will come later as Linda will remain in our School this Fall as a Lecturer (50% FTE), teaching the very popular senior elective Process Safety Management course, which she has helped to develop.  She will also develop safety examples for all our UG and graduate core courses - this is important as Safety considerations are now a part of the ABET accreditation.  The IED position grew significantly in scope and impact during Linda's tenure - I thank Linda for her exemplary service and leadership in our School during the past five years.  In fact, in recognition of her accomplishments, Linda Davis received the 2010 CoE Staff Award of Excellence for Leadership.

Gabriela Nagy will join our School in the IED position on August 13, 2012.  She received her BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cluj in Romania and PhD in Chemistry from De Montfort University in the UK.  She has held a variety of positions in the School of Pharmacy at De Montfort University since 2006 and is currently a Lecturer there.  Gabriela Nagy will have the same duties as Linda Davis:  manage the ChE co-op program, coordinate the professional development seminars (ChE 200, 300 and 400), chair the ChE Safety Committee, and serve as Director of the Fundamentals Laboratory.  Finally, I note that Dr. Gabriela Nagy is wife of Dr. Zoltan Nagy, who will join our School as Professor this August.

Please join me in thanking Linda Davis for her exemplary service to our School, welcome her in a new role this Fall, and also welcome Gabriela Nagy as a new staff member of our School.
