Staff Recognition

*         Teresa Cadwallader, Administrative Assistant, received a Professional Development grant from the Purdue Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Committee (APSAC)



Student Recognition

*         Shane Bates, Graduate Student, received a Frederick N. Andrews Environmental Travel Grant from the Graduate School

*         Ranjita Ghose, Graduate Student, received a John Jink Company Graduate Fellowship

*         Anirudh Shenvi, Graduate Student, received the Henri Ford Graduate Scholarship from the College of Engineering



Miscellaneous

*         Volunteer Opportunity - Our School is organizing an activity on January 16, National Day of Service, to benefit the Imagination Station, a not for profit Lafayette organization. Imagination Station http://www.imagination-station.org/ is a place where children can experience science concepts through a hands on approach. They are rejuvenating their building this month and could use our help to clean, paint, move items, and fix experiments. If you are interested in helping for two hours on January 16, please let me know.

*         Planning for the New Year - If you are looking for a tool to better plan the year and track your goals, you may want to use the attached "Achievers Focusing System" model. *         Financial presentation - Thursday January 12, 9.00 to 10.00 am, FRNY 3059 (faculty and staff only)

*         Diversity presentation - Thursday January 26, 9.00 to 10.30 am, G140 (everyone who did not attend the presentation in November is expected to attend)

*         Distinguished Engineer Award - February 24

*         Purdue Engineering Week - February 19-25

*         Laura Stanciu, temporary secretary, assisting with the graduate school applications in the graduate office

*         Venkataprasad Bhat, Post Doc, transferring to a new position in Mechanical Engineering
