New Graduate Students

*         Nicholas Delgass will receive the 2012 AIChE R.H. Wilhelm Award in Chemical Reaction Engineering

*         Jim Litster will receive the 2012 Thomas Baron Award in Fluid-Particle Systems at this fall's annual AIChE meeting.

*         Zoltan Nagy is our newest Professor of Chemical Engineering, beginning August 13. His email is znagy at purdue.edu<mailto:znagy at purdue.edu>, his phone number 765-494-0734, and his office is G027D.

*         Rex Reklaitis will receive the 2012 AIChE Van Antwerpen Award and the Long Term Achievements Award of the Working Party on Computer Aided Process Engineering of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering

*         You-Yeon Won is the PI on one of the three inaugural Fellows projects selected by the Bindley Bioscience Center.

*         Graduate Student Danni Gao participated in the NRG Battle World Edition competition sponsored by Shell. Danni was selected to become part of the Gasunie DNV KEMA team, which placed in the top four. The competition took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 4 to June 8, 2012.

*         Graduate Student Meenesh Singh will receive a 2012 Graduate Student Research Award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the Separations Division. He is also the recipient of the McDonnell Douglas Fellowship for the fall 2012 semester from the College of Engineering.

*         Graduate Student Haorang Yang received a fellowship for AY 2012-13 from Eastman.

*         Four Purdue Engineering graduate students (3 ChE and 1 MSE) won all the poster competitions in the two local Catalysis Clubs: Michigan Catalysis Society and Chicago Catalysis Club. The first place and only award given in Michigan was won by Shane Bates. In Chicago, the first place was won by Sara Yohe, the second place by Anuj Verma, and the third place by Cem Akatay.



Staff News

*         Linda Davis has returned for the fall semester as a Limited Term Lecturer. She will teach ChE 497 - Process Safety Management. Her office is FRNY 2160, her phone 67826, and her email is unchanged lsdavis at purdue.edu<mailto:lsdavis at purdue.edu>.

*         Heather Toro is our new Business Manager. She is located in FRNY G041, her email is htoro at purdue.edu<mailto:htoro at purdue.edu>, phone 44071.

*         Chase Brummet, Jeff's student helper, graduated in May and left Purdue last week. We hired Colin Hughes to help with building issues. Colin is a Junior at Purdue in Hospitality and Tourism Management.
