Pcard Accepted at Local Sam's Club for University Purchases - 11/17/11

University Food Stores has negotiated a procurement method that allows Purdue's West Lafayette campus personnel to shop for departmental and University needs at Sam's Club in Lafayette. All purchases applied to the Purdue membership must be paid with a University Pcard. Sam's Club will not accept any other form of payment, including cash and checks.

The process for making Pcard purchases at Sam's Club is:

 1.  Upon entering the store, show the Sam's Club associate the Purdue University Pcard and mention that you are shopping on behalf of the University.
 2.  Select merchandise and proceed to the check-out.
 3.  Show the Sam's Club associate your Purdue University Pcard as proof of membership and tell the associate whether the purchases are taxable or tax exempt.
 4.  Lastly, the Sam's Club associate will ring up your items, and they will be paid for with your University Pcard.

The Pcard is proof of University membership. All purchases must be made in person with the card. Sam's Club will not accept Pcard transactions via telephone, fax or electronic method. University Pcards can be used only for University purchases. Personal shopping needs to be paid for with a personal Sam's Club membership.

To save time, you may enter your order online ahead of time, and Sam's staff will have it ready for pickup when you arrive. You will need to go through the check-out with your Pcard to pay. Special Sam's Club personal membership discount available for Purdue employees

Sam's Club is offering up to a $25 discount at any location to all University faculty and staff who renew their membership or apply for a new one. To qualify for the benefit, contact Shelly Cochran<mailto:scochran at purdue.edu>, director of Food Stores, for a special coupon then take it to any Sam's Club with your Purdue ID. After signing up and paying the membership fee, you may shop immediately.

Faculty and staff are invited to an open house at Sam's Club 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. The store will be open for an extra hour for shopping Purdue employees who are members.
