RE: PUPD to Offer RAD Self Defense Course in January
The Purdue University Police Department is offering a RAD, Rape Aggression Defense, women's self defense course Monday, January 16 through Wednesday, January 19, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Purdue University Police Department, 205 South Jischke Dr. RAD is a three-day course and attendance at all three days is required for successful completion of the course.
RAD instructors will focus on education and awareness, prevention, risk reduction and the avoidance of assault and rape. The RAD system is dedicated to teaching defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense/martial arts tactics.
The program is free of charge and the minimum age for participants is thirteen. Affiliation with the University is not required to register, and participants will be registered in the order in which the requests are received. Athletic style clothing is recommended, and shorts are not permitted.
Parking for this event will be made available in the Smalley Center parking lot, located just east of Shreve Hall.
