The CoE has embarked on a faculty video project. You are either able to do it yourself or seek help from Drew. Please see details below. The deadline for us internally is to have all these completed by end of November, 2025.

Faculty Video Project

  *   The Dean has set a goal for the school heads and Communicators to produce very short videos of every faculty member in the College.



Purpose

  *   Serves research funding, graduate recruitment.
  *   Videos are one element in a searchable web portal (of faculty expertise) overseen by Office of Academic Affairs.



Description

  *   1-minute horizontal video.
  *   Individual speaking rather than lab shots or b-roll.
  *   Faculty identify themselves, state school and lab, mention research expertise and societal impact.
  *   Backdrop, standardization, and consistency of look not important initially.
  *   We simply ask that the professor speak clearly and audibly.



Plan

  *   This project will require an "all-hands" effort across the College. The heads have been informed of this plan. The Dean would like the Communicators to coordinate with their faculty, make sure they participate, and to take cell phone videos if possible.
  *   Two phases: First one focuses on speed of implementation; second phase focuses on standardization, consistency, beauty, perfection, etc.
  *   My team will take inventory of what videos already exist that might work as they are for now, so those faculty won't need videos in the first phase.
  *   Explanatory email will be sent to faculty by College leadership, and they will receive a "dummy script" in which they would fill in the blanks and riff off of it.
  *   How videos will be done:
     *   Communicators can take video of faculty (can be done on cell phone).
     *   Faculty can do their own (selfie or grad student does video).
     *   Faculty can come to Potter to our recording studio/editing station. Faculty will be asked to use our scheduling software to book a time in the studio.



Schedule

  *   Significant portion of Phase 1 to be completed by the end of this year.
  *   Reconnect with faculty after one year to upgrade videos as necessary.
