All:
Following our meeting today, I am sharing the slide deck from the Dean's office regarding AI in our curriculum. The Dean's message below reminds us of expectations from each School.

"Specifically in spring 2026 we will do pilot sections in WL and Indy with 5 modules dedicated to technical competency in AI - linear correlations, machine learning, neural nets, transformers, and how common LLMs work. In addition there will be efforts at effective use of AI by students to enhance their productivity - prompt engineering, ethics, productivity tools etc. Following the spring 2026 pilots, these will be rolled out at scale across FYE starting fall 2026.

At the September meeting we asked for initial draft plans from each of you by December 15 regarding how each school will build on new FYE curriculum to continue to build on both AI technical competency (understanding whats under the hood of AI models and how they work) + effective use of AI tools for their productivity."

I had asked that our curriculum enhancement seed grant proposals (see message below with due date of Feb. 06, 2026 with Teresa) focus on AI in our curriculum. I am sharing this with the Dean's office as being our plan.

I am asking that curriculum innovation proposals for this call focus on bringing AI use into our curriculum. Ideally, we should see if this kind of content can be embedded in our core curriculum classes in anticipation of ABET making this a requirement to be assessed in future years.

Thanks and best.
GS

Subject: Research and Curriculum/Teaching innovation proposals

All:
As in previous years, I am requesting you to submit proposals for innovation in (i) Research and (ii) Curriculum/Teaching. Please submit your proposals to Teresa by 5:00 pm of Feb. 06, 2026.
Note the interest in supporting ideas that bring AI into our CCE curriculum in a tangible way.
Thanks and best.
