  1.
For the student-facing syllabi, I am following the Provost's template of required and optional items. For the publicly-facing syllabi, I am only removing the personal information about how to contact/reach me.
  2.
Regarding the SEA202 items, I did not see that we need to put anything in our syllabi. From what I recall, that will be done in Elements going forward for all faculty, and in SuccessFactors for lecturers.

all

i'm working on my 'publicly-facing' syllabi now.  basically i'm editing my usual syllabi by omitting  identifying material.  two questions:

  1.
do you omit the standard material (e.g., statements about policies regarding discrimination, mental health, emergency, etc.) since they are not specific to a given course?
  2.
i'm not adding anything to my usual syllabi, which does not have anything related to bias or viewpoints.  somehow i seem to remember that there might be a requirement of a statement regarding bias or the presentation of a variety of viewpoints (or maybe this does not apply to engineering courses?)  is what i have in my usual syllabi all that is required?

Thanks for this further clarification Cary. I suppose two syllabi need to be prepared: one that is internally facing to the students in the class, and one that is publicly-facing.

What should not be included?

In the public facing syllabus, instructors need not include personal contact information, nor information regarding details of time, location, or other information that identifies a faculty member, staff, or student’s personal schedule or whereabouts.
