As many of you may know, Chad Jafvert will be retiring from Purdue at the end of this semester.  Chad joined the faculty of Civil Engineering in 1991 (33 years ago) after having spent five years as a senior research environmental engineer at the U.S. EPA Laboratory in Athens, GA (after 1 year as a National Research Council Post-doc at the same lab).  Since 2013, he has had a joint appointment with the Environmental and Ecological Engineering program at Purdue, and since 2018, has held a Lyles Family Professorship.   He has mentored 21 Ph.D. students to completion, and has 3 more that will finish within the next year.  Many of his former students hold faculty positions at universities in the U.S. and elsewhere.  He plans on teaching a Maymester course in 2025 and will be taking students to Peru to evaluate water and sanitation systems in indigenous communities in the Amazon rain forest.



Please congratulate Chad on his wonderful career and wish him the best in his future endeavors! We will likely do some sort of an evet for him in the spring semester.
