[Cce-faculty-list] Merit review process

Colleagues:

The university will be using Elements faculty annual performance and merit review process starting spring 2025. The review cycle and reviewer information is provided in the attached spreadsheet. The deadline for submitting this information is tomorrow!

For Assistant and Associate Professors:

  1.  The entire review process with 4 stages (1- Record, 2-Review, 3-Respond, and 4-Complete) must occur every year.
  2.  I have included the mentors as reviewers 2 and 3, and myself as the final reviewer 1. Reviewers provide input sequentially to complete stage 2.

For Full Professors:

  1.  The entire review process (stages 1 through 4) is expected to occur once every five years for each Full Professor. In the attachment, I have indicated the calendar year corresponding to  entire review for each Full Professor by lottery. In other years, the review process for Full Professors will be abbreviated, i.e. stage 1 will be immediately followed by stage 4.

Other points to note:

  1.  The promotion and tenure process will proceed as before and is not affected by this annual evaluation and merit review process.
  2.  In subsequent weeks, I will be sending out more guidance on how to fill sections of Elements - both for faculty members and for reviewers.

We will talk about this in more detail at the next faculty meeting. For now, I intend to submit this plan tomorrow to the College so that the portal can be made available to all of us in a timely manner.
