Dear All -

This Wednesday 9/7, the Student Seminar Series on Recent Quantum Advances will hold the second event of the semester; Ramya Suresh from the Department of Physics and Astronomy will present a seminar titled: Superconducting Qubits, Hybrid Devices, and Circuit Architectures.

Abstract: Superconducting circuits are a popular platform for quantum computing and simulations, demonstrating several advantages such as improved coherence and robustness compared to trapped-ion, NV center, or ultracold-atom technologies. Custom circuits can be easily designed to mimic the physics of natural or artificial systems, making them relevant to a wide range of research fields. Over the years, qubit architectures have evolved towards improved scalability, lower losses, and improved qubit-qubit connectivity. In this talk, I will be introducing the physics of superconducting circuits, recent developments in qubit architecture, and hybrid devices that combine electromagnetic qubit modes with other non-electromagnetic modes and give rise to rich physics.

A discussion session will follow the talk, which combined will take approximately 60 minutes. Pizza will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis. The venue is MSEE Building Room B012.

All students and faculty are invited to attend. For undergraduate students, this is a good opportunity to gain a basic understanding of various quantum research topics. for new PhDs, this is also a great opportunity to discuss with researchers from different quantum research groups at Purdue, which you may seek to join. for senior PhDs, postdoctoral and faculty members, you are welcome to join us to discuss the recent developments in various quantum fields.

Thanks a lot
