Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to encourage to consider attending a workshop discussing about
a new platform for data sharing called DataHub. Details about the workshop
can be found in the email thread below. The workshop is scheduled for June
28th (9am-2pm) in SC G046.

If you have not already done so, please signup by Sunday evening (June 26)

*Subject:* DataHub Summer Workshop - 28 June

Hello,

You may already have seen the email thread with Prof. Shakouri. I am a PhD
student working with a team to build a platform for organizing, preserving,
and sharing data. That platform is called DataHub
<https://datacenterhub.org/> (datacenterhub.org).

DataHub is like a self-serve database, with features like:

   - A tabular structure to make it easy to search across datasets
   - Simple dataset creation (3-steps)
   - Multi-user dataset editing
   - Custom parameters that are displayed right alongside your data - so
users can search your dataset using any parameters you want. Here's an
   example
   <https://datacenterhub.org/dv_dibbs/view/1001:dibbs/parameters_reinforced_concrete_column/?filter=parameters_reinforced_concrete_column.datastore_id%7C1001>
from some tests conducted at Bowen Lab where the dataset owner defined
   custom parameters.

We are hosting a half-day workshop on June 28th (9am-2pm) in SC G046. We
will provide breakfast and lunch; we ask only that attendees bring data to
upload. The data *will not be published* unless the attendee decides to do
so.

It would be great if some nanotechnology students could attend. Would you
be willing to forward the link below to your organization / encourage some
students to attend? Link: http://goo.gl/forms/xb8GgHBhOa1G2Aoi1

This link has an intro to DataHub, the agenda, a poll to RSVP, and a funny
YouTube video about data preservation that I am sure many grad students can
relate to.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Thank you,
