Dear all,

Just a reminder of the meeting on Future Manufacturing today. This is essentially a 1.5hr workshop to define a call for proposals internal to Purdue. Birck is uniquely positioned to address the Electronics & Optics Applications thrust, but I will need your help to define potential themes. The meeting will start with ~1/2 hr of overviews on the 4 manufacturing sectors under considerations (please see email below). Then we will split off into discussion groups to generate ideas for the call for proposals. EVPRP is looking for collaborative high risk ideas of the sort that NSF won’t touch. Think of these as seed grants to develop ideas and gather data enough to obtain a larger grant.

The meeting will be in STEW 202 @ 11:30am.

Be sure to attend the next Engineering Faculty Conversation on Future Manufacturing, April 6, 2018, 11:30 – 1:00 in STEW 202!

Associate Dean for Research, Melba Crawford, will discuss the upcoming EFC seed grants for Future Manufacturing.

Jan-Anders Mansson will facilitate conversations around 4 manufacturing sectors:
>  Manufacturing of high performance parts/products led by Yung Shin
>  Manufacturing for electronics/optics application led by Dana Weinstein
>  Manufacturing for bio-pharma applications led by Rex Reklaitis
>  Manufacturing of multi-functional materials led by Haiyang Wang

This is followed by faculty participating in breakout sessions to identify potential research/education/outreach themes that are high impact, collaborative, and can be leveraged.
