Are you NSF funded? If so, let the BNC help you outreach to more than 1,000+ anticipated participants at our annual NanoDays 2012 event planned for April 26 and 27. Our participants include educators, K-12 students, community members and our own Purdue employees and their families.
What is NanoDays? NanoDays is our nationwide festival of educational programs about nanoscale science and engineering and its potential impact on the future. NanoDays events are organized by participants in the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net), and take place at over 200 science museums, research centers, and universities across the country from Maine to Hawaii (http://www.nisenet.org/nanodays).
When? April 26-27, 2012, 9:00am - 3:00pm
Where?
* Hands-on Activities we be held at the Birck Nanotechnology Center in the Atrium (Space in the Atrium is reserved for NSAC)
* Most (if not all) rooms have been reserved in Discovery Park for these days so please act fast to confirm your participation and room assignment. Additional space in DLRC is being researched to accommodate the expected large participation.
Who can participate? Purdue Faculty, Staff, and Students can participate in NanoDays and anyone can attend.
Why should you participate? This event provides an opportunity to outreach to more than 700 local community members in addition to a global impact when faculty presentations are videotaped and placed on NanoHUB.
How can I participate? Here are some ideas:
* Provide a demo on one of your table-top instruments that can be moved to the Atrium and/or to a reserved room.
* Give a general/overview presentation that the general public can understand providing examples of how your research impacts/improves the world they live in
* Purchase hands-on activities related to Nanotechnology (NISE Network catalog where they can review and purchase activities: http://www.nisenet.org/catalog) and provide the student support to demo these activities during the NanoDays event.
We're open to new ideas so feel free to tell us how you'd like to participate!
NanoDays 2012 is a great way to show your sponsors you're truly making a global impact to educate our society about Nanoscale Science and Engineering, so contact Angie Sigo (angie at purdue.edu<mailto:angie at purdue.edu>) today to confirm your participation and reserve your video session.
