Hi All,

I appreciate the warm welcome from everyone I've met so far and look forward to getting to know you and your projects. Establishing and maintaining a strong laboratory safety culture is essential to our research and teaching mission. As faculty and research staff, we must ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards and shape the attitudes and habits of the next generation of scientists.

To that end, I encourage you to actively uphold the following principles:

  *   Adhere to protocols: Confirm that all procedures are up-to-date and consistently followed across your teams.
  *   Report hazards promptly: Early reporting of unsafe conditions or incidents enables swift corrective action and prevents reoccurrence.
  *   Maintain readiness: Ensure familiarity with emergency equipment locations and usage, including fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and spill kits.
  *   Model safe conduct: Your example influences students and researchers. Demonstrate vigilance, accountability, and respect for safety norms.
