Title: Are scientists natural storytellers? Of course, they are!

Abstract: Science is the process of throwing out the old and ushering in the new. We do this by replacing old assumptions with new causal mechanisms validated by the data. In the process, we teach the world new things. You probably knew all that. But did you know that storytelling is also about challenging assumptions, proposing new explanations, and teaching? Dr. Matei will explain why good science is good storytelling and why and how good scientists are natural storytellers. You can find an engaging introduction to Dr. Matei's theory of science and storytelling in this series of 5 minute video tutorials http://matei.org/url/dstoryplaylist
