Dear Discovery Park family,

As you may have heard, we are very pleased that Tomás Díaz de la Rubia will be joining us as Chief Scientist and Executive Director of Discovery Park.  He will start in mid-August; a press release will be issued within a few days.

The search process has engaged the president, trustees, provost, deans, and others across campus who are clearly energized about the possibilities, and have expressed great hopes for significant growth in the recognition and profile of DP.  You will all be critical to achieving what we all believe to be the true potential of DP.

Until Tomás arrives, please consider me to be serving in an acting role in this position.   A DP Directors meeting will be scheduled for after Tomás arrives in August.  Dave Kotterman is serving as an interim in Candiss' place for some of the more operational details, and he will be working closely with Candiss.  Jeff Bolin is in charge of DP space-related issues.  Our DFA Stacy Brown, as you know, has deep knowledge of DP, and we are also hopeful of announcing the ADFA for DP in the very near future.  So, we will be well-staffed, and remain responsive to your needs.
