Birck and Cleanroom News

Atrium Displays

As you have probably noticed the lower atrium displays are now active! We're still working out a few bugs in the display software, but they're close to being complete. This is true for the upper atrium display as well. The next step is create the content for the displays. If you have an interesting diagram from your research, or a bit of news that you'd like to share with the Birck community and any visitors to our facility, please forward them to Heather Anthrop for inclusion in the display content.

KLA Tencor Profiler

We are finalizing the installation plans for our new KLA-Tencor P7 surface profilometer. The field service engineer is scheduled to be working in our cleanroom during the week of August 11th, and training on the system will begin the following week with Geoff Gardner. This instrument will give us a more accurate and reliable reading of step height over dissimilar materials as well as over the same materials.

TEM Prep (Lab 1267) Moving to SEM Prep (Lab 1233)

The TEM prep lab is being consolidated into the SEM prep lab in order to make way for a new faculty researcher coming to Purdue and Birck. All people who have had card access to 1267 are being switched over to 1233, so please do your TEM sample preparation in this new lab which is directly across the galley from 1267.

As always, please keep your suggestions and ideas coming!

Ron
