What IP Settings Should I Use With My Computer?

When you are configuring your own PC on the ECN network, you will need to obtain an IP address from ECN.
To this end, you will need to provide:

  1. The OS that it will run
  2. The building and room number where it will be located
  3. The wired MAC address of your network card in the format aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff

NOTE: If you have a static address already assigned to you, and you find your time server is not working, please either provide your static Ip and the mac address, or manually use the Purdue timeserver of ntp.itap.purdue.edu

We STRONGLY suggest that you name your PC with the hostname we generate for you, and also to make the main account that you will use on this PC match with your career account. This helps you check out licenses from our license server with fewer errors.

Firewall settings to address Pings:

Make sure you disable ping suppression so that we don't inadvertently give away your IP address to someone else!

You may also need the DNS Suffix Search Order (Optional): Use the following suffixes.

  • ecn.purdue.edu
  • purdue.edu
  • tech.purdue.edu
  • itap.purdue.edu
  • central.purdue.lcl
