Purdue University researchers will use an award from the National Science Foundation to make computing more effective and energy efficient using "spins." Joerg Appenzeller, the Barry M. and Patricia L. Epstein Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue, will lead the effort.

A company started by two ECE graduates to help high-end retail stores improve customer service through automated coaching of sales associates has received a two-year, $750,000 federal grant to continue improving its software.

Pujitha Desiraju is a senior majoring in Computer Engineering. She is spending the semester studying abroad at National University of Singapore.

A Purdue-based company that designs software and performs in-field analysis to help wine grape growers and winemakers improve crop quality and sustainability has won a two-year federal grant worth more than $500,000.

She will serve as the General Chair of the 2019 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic and Multiphysics Modeling and Optimization (NEMO) to be held in Boston, MA, USA on May 29-31, 2019.

The research award is for the development of new nonlinear sources of light using molecular energy transfer approaches.

In the U.S. News & World Report survey “Best Colleges 2018,” Purdue’s College of Engineering ranked 8th nationally among doctoral-granting universities. Electrical Engineering came in at #8, while Computer Engineering was #12.

He was recognized for his work on plasmon nano-optical tweezers. He was advised by Professors Alexandra Boltasseva and George Nnanna and collaborated with Professor Steve Wereley. Justus will be joining the faculty in the School of Engineering at Vanderbilt University this fall as an Assistant Professor.
