Purdue professor Weiner elected fellow of National Academy of Inventors

Professor Weiner's research focuses on ultrafast optics, notably the processing of extremely high-speed lightwave signals and ultra-broadband radio-frequency signals. He is especially well known for his pioneering work on programmable generation of arbitrary ultrashort pulse waveforms, which has found application both in fiber optic networks and in ultrafast optical science laboratories around the world.

Three ECE Professors elevated to IEEE Fellows

Xiaojun Lin, Dimitrios Peroulis, and Hong Tan have been elevated, effected January 2017. The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of one- percent of the total voting membership. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.

Purdue team receives $10 million SPARC grant

The team, which includes ECE Professors Pedro Irazoqui and Zhongming Liu, is researching the stomach's neural circuitry and whether bioelectronics medicine can aid conditions such as diabetes or obesity.
