Abstract
Deere & Company has been on a decade long journey to create and implement electric drives in a variety of applications ranging from golf greens mowers to construction equipment. This presentation is targeted to enhance the awareness of Purdue faculty and students of Deere’s global reach in agriculture, construction, and technology in the off-highway market. Deere will provide insight to off-road vehicle electrification challenges and opportunities. They will also review their intern, engineering development program, and open positions at Deere. 

Bio
Dr. Scott Johnson is a Senior Control Systems Engineer at John Deere Electronic Solutions (JDES), developing motor control software for inverters developed at Deere. He is responsible for motor control algorithm design, verification, deployment, and support. Dr. Johnson is a Purdue alumni, graduating in 2016 with a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering with emphasis in automatic control. 

Daniel Zilz is an electric drives test engineer in the Electric Drives Services Group (EDSG). He is responsible for planning, executing, and managing component- and system-level test activities for electric drive technology. He is a graduate of John Deere’s Engineering Development Program and is a Purdue alumnus, graduating in 2015 with a BSEE degree.
