Project Engineer I – Electrical Utilities | Chicago, IL

The Roderick Group, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer I – Electrical Utilities to assist in the preparation of contract documents (plans, specifications and cost estimates) for various projects related to the Power Industry in Chicago. These projects may include power delivery equipment, substation design, or site utility design. Candidate must be highly detail oriented and organized.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

• 0-4 years of prior experience in the electrical design
• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• Strong written and verbal communication skills Other valued qualifications include:
  • Construction experience
  • Electric Power Distribution experience
  • Basic understanding of Highway/Utility plans
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • I.T. certification (passed the FE exam)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist senior designers in the preparation of electrical contract documents
• Maintain project documentation, including project filing
• Monitor and resolve technical issues in a timely and effective manner
• Perform field survey tasks as required
