Position Title: Student Internships for Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics majors

The Naval Air Warfare Center-Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) has multiple openings for student internships in STEM fields. These positions are located at the Patuxent River Naval Station or at the Webster Field Annex.

Salary: $23,547-$71,467 salary reflected is for full-time hours and is dependent upon series, grade, education, and experience
This is a student trainee position located at Patuxent River, MD. You will serve as a STEM student intern receiving on-the-job training in the technical aspects of NAWCAD’s work. You will be assigned to a department within NAWCAD and will perform work under the supervision of a branch head or competency administrator.
- You must be a U.S. Citizen
- You must be 18 years old or older
- You must be suitable for Federal employment as determined by a background investigation
- You must obtain and maintain a security clearance
- You must be accepted for enrolment OR enrolled in school
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Selectees are required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit pay program
Education requirements:
- Your school must be an accredited or pre-accredited institution
- You must be currently working towards a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D in one of the following:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Aeronautical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Computer Science
- Materials Engineering
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Psychology
- Operations Research
- OR enrolled in an associate’s degree in one of the above courses of study at a school that has a matriculation agreement with an accredited institution that offers a bachelor’s degree
Program completion and conversion:
As a student intern, you may be non-competitively converted to a permanent position within 120 days of successful completion of the program. While the intent of the program is to convert you upon graduation, there is no guarantee of conversion.
